About finasteride
What is finasteride and how does it work for hair loss?
Finasteride is a tablet used to treat hair loss in men, specifically androgenetic alopecia. This occurs when hair follicles become more sensitive to the male hormone DHT. Finasteride lowers your DHT levels, protecting the hair follicles and reducing further hair loss.
How it works
Finasteride blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT. Lower DHT levels protect your hair follicles from further weakening.
Also used for prostate issues
Finasteride is also used at higher doses to treat an enlarged prostate. For hair loss, the dose is 1mg per day.
What can you expect?
Studies show that after 60 weeks of treatment, 90% of men experience hair growth or a halt to further hair loss.

3–6 months
Your hair loss should start to slow, and you may see improvement around your hairline and crown.
1–2 years
Further hair loss should be minimal and you may notice improved hair growth with more thickness and coverage.
